Alcohol Justice and Writers In Treatment are co-producing the 2nd Annual REEL Recovery Film Festival – San Francisco Bay Area Edition.

Using the artistic medium and venue of a four-day film festival, select feature-length, short and documentary films will be presented that highlight alcohol/drug addiction and recovery. Educational and informational discussions will follow film screenings. This unique public health event will take place at the beautiful VIZ Theater at 1746 Post Street.

The goals of the San Francisco Bay Area Edition of the REEL Recovery Film Festival are to:

• Give voice, visibility and venue to filmmakers who creatively use their art to explore the disabling diseases of alcohol/drug addiction and the opportunity and hope that recovery holds

• Raise public awareness in the San Francisco Bay Area about the diseases of alcoholism, drug addiction and recovery

• Encourage those struggling with addiction to seek treatment as well as encourage those in recovery to sustain their sobriety and

• Celebrate the gifts of recovery

• Encourage public policy advocacy for the prevention of alcohol and other drug-related harm by showing their impact, especially on youth

• Engage and activate the recovery community as a powerful advocacy constituency

• Raise money to support the good work of Alcohol Justice and Writers In Treatment
